Quick answer
The current answer
Waterpark Simulator supports online sessions for up to four people: one host and up to three other players. The official 1.0 announcement says the host can start a new park or load an existing one, and proximity voice chat is optional. Steam/PC update 1.0.50 added another friends-only lobby safeguard and put the lobby-only ban button on the tablet. The official sources checked for this page do not state crossplay, so do not assume PC, PS5, and Xbox players can share a lobby.
Official player limits by platform
The strongest current sources agree on a maximum session size of four. This corrects a six-player claim found in a third-party guide during the third-course audit; the official release announcement and console listings take priority.
| Platform | What the checked source confirms | Evidence date and limit |
|---|---|---|
| PC / Steam | One host can play with up to three other people. | Official 1.0 announcement, rechecked Aug 12, 2026. |
| PS5 | One local player and up to four online players; online play is optional. | PlayStation US listing, checked Aug 12, 2026. |
| Xbox Series X|S | Single player plus online co-op and multiplayer for 2–4 players. | Xbox US listing, checked Aug 12, 2026. |
These rows describe the correct CayPlay game entity and the wording visible in the named sources. They do not prove that all three platforms can connect to one another.
What is verified about hosting and joining
The official 1.0 announcement says a host can run a park from the beginning or load an existing park, then play with up to three friends or strangers. Optional proximity voice chat was included with the multiplayer launch.
The checked official material confirms that joining exists, but it does not provide a current button-by-button guide for every platform. This page therefore does not invent menu names, password-room steps, firewall fixes, or administrator-mode advice. If the current menu differs from older videos or third-party guides, follow the in-game multiplayer prompts.
Host controls added after launch
- Update 1.0.30: improved the host permission system for building, destroying, hiring staff, and opening the park. Joining players start with a hammer rather than a sledgehammer, and first-time multiplayer users receive an explanation of the ticket-booth settings.
- Update 1.0.43: added lobby-only player bans and more host settings, including painting and Caymart purchasing options.
- Update 1.0.48: added safeguards against bad actors spoofing Steam IDs and let all players move pools that contain blobs.
- Update 1.0.50: added another safeguard intended to stop people spoofing as friends’ hosts in friends-only lobbies. It also made the ban button available on the tablet; the patch note says the ban applies to that lobby, not generally.
Those notes come from the Steam/PC update stream. They should not be read as proof that the same numbered build reached both console platforms at the same time.
Is Waterpark Simulator crossplay?
Crossplay is not verified by the official sources used for this page. The official site, Steam page, PlayStation listing, and Xbox listing do not provide a crossplay statement. Until CayPlay or a platform page publishes a clear answer, plan multiplayer sessions within the same platform instead of assuming a mixed PC-and-console lobby will work.
Evidence boundary
What remains unknown
- Whether PC, PS5, and Xbox can join the same lobby. No crossplay statement was found on the official site or checked store listings.
- Whether Steam patch numbers and multiplayer settings reached PS5 and Xbox at the same time.
- The exact current join-menu flow on every platform. The checked official release note confirms joining, but it is not a platform-by-platform UI manual.
- Cross-save or cross-progression between platforms.
